About Orgbix
Orgbix is three free worksheets and a paid staff directory for the person who keeps a US company's employee directory and org chart. The worksheets plan the chart, cost the lookup and count the dotted lines from that person's own figures; the workspace keeps every colleague with their profile and reporting line, and every chart with the version before it.
Why this site exists
This site exists because every company we know of between twenty and five hundred people keeps its directory in a spreadsheet somebody stopped updating and its org chart in a slide somebody redraws each quarter, and both problems are a list of people and the lines between them rather than an HR system.
Who it is for
The HR or people-operations administrator, office manager or chief of staff at a US company of roughly 20 to 500 people who maintains the staff directory and redraws the org chart after every hire, promotion, reorganisation and departure
Not a job-seeker researching a company's structure, not an employee looking up their own manager's title, not a church administrator keeping a congregation's photo directory, not a marketer building an outward-facing business listings site, and not an HR buyer shopping for payroll, rotas, leave, timesheets or reviews
What it does not do
- No payroll, no leave balances, no timesheets and no performance reviews: those are other products and this one will not pretend to be them
- No per-person pricing, because a directory that costs more as you hire is a directory people stop updating
- No employment law or HR advice: the span of control, the headcount and the costs you enter are yours to decide
What is on this site
3 free tools, each working its figure on the page with no account, and Orgbix Pro that keeps the record. All tools · Pricing.
- Employee directory: Turn headcount, profile completeness and how often people look a colleague up into the hours and dollars the lookup costs, and the upkeep it would take instead.
- Dotted line reporting: Turn matrix reporting into the number of dotted lines on the chart, the lines each manager carries, and what the standing check-ins cost a month.
- Organizational structure chart: Turn headcount, span of control and the people at the top into the boxes, the managers, the layers and what redrawing the chart by hand costs a year.
What Orgbix Pro keeps
The sheet works the chart out this afternoon. Pro keeps it: the people, the lines and the version before this one, so the next reorganisation starts from the current chart instead of from last quarter's export.
Who answers for it
Joe Ellul, Director, Ellul Solutions Ltd, the company that operates Orgbix.
