These sheets have no constants. Every number is worked from the figures you enter: the headcount, the span of control, the people at the top, the contractors, the redraws and the minutes each takes, the profile fields and how complete they are, the lookups a week, the minutes a lookup takes, the hourly costs, the joiners and leavers, and the dotted-line share, count, check-in length and interval. An org chart app is judged on the day the chart is wrong, not on the day it is drawn. Somebody joins, somebody moves department, somebody leaves, and either the chart follows or it quietly becomes a picture of last quarter. Keep people, draw charts
A box is a person with a manager, not a shape on a canvas. When the record carries the reporting line, the chart is a view of the directory and the twenty-eight changes a year that break it are made once. On the worked example that is under three hours of upkeep a year rather than four redraws of ninety minutes.
Put contractors on it, with the line they actually have
Eight contractors on a 120-person payroll is eight boxes the chart needs and eight people whose employment status is not the same as everyone else's. The app should show them without pretending they are employees, which is a records question before it is a drawing one.
Keep the version before this one
The chart worth having in a reorganisation is the one it replaced. Every published version is kept beside the people it was drawn from, so what changed is a difference anyone can read rather than an argument two people have from memory.
